2015 FMW Conference

2015 FRANKLIN MERRELL-WOLFF CONFERENCE

THE SUPREME ADVENTURE

Great Space Center, Lone Pine, California

August 6-9, 2015

The Supreme Adventure (Franklin’s Allegory of the quest for Enlightenment) is this year’s theme.

Ron Leonard, PhD–Franklin’s Mystical Philosophy (A Way of Realization). Franklin claims that the office of great philosophy is not solely to be a monitor of doing, but a Way of Realization. This means that he regards his own philosophy not merely as a system of ideas, but as a dynamic process whose purpose is to bring others to Realize the same Transcendent Ground. The key is Franklins use of the symbol–especially symbolic language (pointer concepts). I will not only discuss the nature of symbols, but will lead exercises using Franklin’s and other symbols. Attendees are asked to bring a symbolic item that they find personally spiritually significant.

Doroethy Leonard, M.Ed., MC–The Heritage. A more direct approach to spiritual unfoldment is by way of direct presence and personal guidance of advanced spiritual teachers. In her talk, Doroethy will relate the influence she experienced from Franklin and Grandmother (Sherifa). She says, “While I was an adolescent, Grandmother gave me some guidelines that I’ve never forgotten. Franklin gave me instructions from my early 20s on how to deepen my connection to the spiritual side of life. I’ve never forgotten them. I will share the practical and spiritual guidelines.”

Jennifer Young, MC, LPC (Clinical Director at Southwest Network, Phoenix)–Group Process (What are the barriers?)

Thursday evening, following dinner, we shall gather to become (re)acquainted and share. Friday morning will begin with a dream circle, and Saturday morning a tarot circle. Bring a dream that you feel is spiritually significant to you, or to the group–especially one that Jung would call a Big Dream.

The program will include readings from, and discussion of, Franklin’s Experience and Philosophy. Please bring your copy, if you have one.

Friday evening, several members have agreed to give 5 minute talks, followed by 10-20 minutes discussion; Saturday evening, Jennifer conducts a special program, followed by a candlelight ceremony.

The traditional Sunday morning meeting follows the format that Franklin and Sherifa used for many years. (Many dress more formally.) It will include Franklin’s recording of “The Supreme Adventure,” followed by discussion–then, the Closing Ceremony, conducted by Baiba Strads, and a noon potluck.

As usual, we shall enjoy communal meals and stimulating “round table” discussions. Doroethy will provide breakfasts and arrange for lunches and dinners during our program; Sunday lunch is potluck.

Cost: $185 (trying to cover expenses), includes room and board. There is a $25 reduction for camping here in the Great Space (using portapotty & outdoor shower) or for staying elsewhere. Some scholarships are available upon request.

A $50 deposit confirms your space ASAP; please send checks to Doroethy Leonard at: P.O. Box 758, Lone Pine, CA 93545. Detailed program and/or map is available upon registration. We will help to coordinate transportation if possible. For information, email Doroethy@cox.net.
